Thank you for your understanding. "Mollywood" was one of the so-called "exotic flicks," which were dubbed in the foreign languages and shown in Indonesian cinemas. "Mollywood," which was launched in 1975, became a favorite for Indonesian audiences, but it received a great deal of criticism from government authorities. In response to the negative press, the Directorate General of Film Aficionado (BPP Satya) announced that it would eliminate "exotic flicks." In its place, the agency would promote films with patriotism themes and good moral character. With this reform, BPP Satya changed its name to Desak Film Pribumi (DFP), which means "Indonesian Desak Film Board. To force a cultural revolution, DFP canceled licenses for all foreign film companies operating in Indonesia, making it more difficult for them to do business. In 1976, the agency instructed all producers to create a new standardized genre called "Pribumi Film" that would be more patriotic and nationalistic. These new films would also create a greater sense of Indonesian unity and solidarity. In addition to causing the downfall of "exotic flicks", the DFP had other objectives as well. AKBP Djunaidi, former head of the State Film Corporation (Pelakon) later recalled that Pribumi films were produced independently by individual states or provinces between 1978 until 1985. In addition to local producers who wanted to create nationalistic films about their localities, there were others who were willing to do so as well. The most prominent of these is Jarkotakusumo and his brother Arifin C. Noer. They established Persari, a nationalistic film company whose films were highly successful in theaters. This led to other producers following suit, including Gunung Sewu Productions, Sinar Harapan, Djakarta Films, Perfini, Loke Filmindo, Rialto Film Company, Sinematek Indonesia and many others.
